Summary: Marty finds a dog in the hills of West Virginia. Marty and Shiloh become best friends. Marty spend more time with Shiloh then his own family and friends. When he finds out whose dog it is he hides him out in the woods. The dogs own Judd abuses him because he wants him to be a hunting dog. Marty convinces Judd to give Shiloh to him by tricking him but in the end Marty gets Shiloh and Judd get a friend and a helper.


Use in Classroom: This book could be used in a middle school classroom for a literature circle or a book talk session. This is a great book for boys and students who love pets. This book can be inspiring for students to report people who abuse animals.
